A LOVE STORY

A LOVE STORY

They met in college.

Aeshna and Sohan both attended Cornell University. They were in the same honor fraternity, Phi Sigma Pi. Sohan was immediately struck by Aeshna's beauty, and he hounded her for a month before she could no longer avoid him. He invited himself over for dinner at her apartment, and they talked for hours by the suspension bridge next to Fall Creek Gorge on campus under a warm, starry night.

That first date was just days before the end of the semester, and they spent the next 12 weeks separated by 3000 miles. Aeshna stayed in Ithaca taking classes, and Sohan went to California for an internship. Despite the distance, their love blossomed. They continued talking for hours on the phone, sometimes on Skype, often until 3AM (PST!).

When they reunited in Ithaca 12 weeks later, everything felt natural. They watched sunsets on the Slope, danced in Willard Straight, ordered smoothies from Cece's, and strolled along Bebe Lake. Sohan graduated early and stayed on campus an extra semester, and Aeshna began preparing her applications to Veterinary School.

They grew closer though distance separated them.

Sohan moved to NYC to work and pursue entrepreneurship while Aeshna finished her senior year at Cornell. Sohan visited Aeshna nearly every other weekend by taking a putrid Shortline bus from Port Authority to Ithaca. Aeshna visited Sohan in NYC as often as she could, surmounting her distaste for the sticky subways, miniature apartments, and busy, treeless streets. They relished these visits and yearned for days when they'd be inseparable.

Aeshna applied to only six, extremely competitive veterinary schools -- the only ones near major cities where Sohan could work. She accepted Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, and Sohan and Aeshna moved up to Central Massachusetts together.

They began traveling through life together.

Massachusetts brought its own set of adventures and challenges. Veterinary school's rigor brought incredibly complex material, grueling classes and labs, multitudes of all-nighters, and the occasional cute puppy. Sohan's startup was a windmill of defeat and accomplishment. The weather brought waist-high snow ripe for shoveling and sledding.

Sohan and Aeshna still cherished every moment they had together. They explored Walden Pond, tandem biked across Cape Cod, ambled across every public park from Worcester to Cambridge (with at least 4 stars on Yelp), dined in the North End, canoed in Jamaica Pond, and stalked every Golden Retriever along the way.

It was only a matter of time until...

And she said yes.

Sohan officially became the luckiest man on Earth. Aeshna never dreamed she could be so happy.
